AARON MONTGOMERY Biography

Aaron was born and raised in Seattle and began playing drums at the age of 10. His first introduction to music was through his family, were various members of his house hold as well as his extended family had musical talents.

Sparking his interest early on, Aaron found himself drawn to the drums and was enrolled in the music program in elementary school. From there Aaron was exposed to reading music and ensemble playing for the first time. This served as the initial platform, which would move him forward in a career of music.

After high school and a primary focus on Jazz Ensemble, Aaron enrolled at William Patterson University in Wayne NJ under the direction of Rufus Reid were he studied all aspects of the Jazz Performance curriculum before heading out to do cruise ship contracts for a year at the age of 19. After completing 4 contracts for Carnival and Princess cruise lines, Aaron enrolled at FIU in Miami to continue studying Jazz and Afro Cuban.

With another 3 years spent in Miami playing in school ensembles and with various bands around town, Aaron was given the opportunity to move to LA with one of the bands he was playing with. This was what got him firmly set up in the rock scene and served as a gateway to his current project, multi platinum selling band TRAPT.

With over 3 million records sold and touring in the US, Europe, Japan, and Canada for the past 9 years Aaron has found ways to continually increase his skills set and knowledge of music in the process of creating, recording, and performing. "It’s an ongoing process and should never be viewed as a destination, but a journey."
