Shannon Corey
Biography
Pulling influences from the likes of Ben Folds, Fiona Apple and Tori Amos, piano player/singer songwriter Shannon Corey truly reflects a beautiful new vibe of sensuous class. Originally from Providence, RI, Shannon's infectious pop-rock-classical sound has been heard regularly around New York City's famed venues such as The Knitting Factory, The Bitter End, and the now immortalized CBGB's.
Having received the praises of fellow artists and critics alike, Shannon was named High Times Magazine's Unsigned Artist of the Week and CD Reviews by You Pop Featured Artist, gained acceptance into the International Pop Overthrow Festival-NYC, and also into the Starbucks Music Makers Semi-Finals.
Through her carefully layered and delicately executed stylings, the music of her debut album Unsaid, produced by Charles Newman of Mother West Records (The Magnetic Fields, The Bowmans), tells the universal story of a young woman coming into her own but in a way only Shannon Corey's mesmerizing and haunting voice can. A classically trained pianist with skills akin to the world's best, her captivating melodies are enhanced by the rich and vibrant rhythmic accompaniment of bass, drums, electric guitar, cello, viola and violin, all contributing to her unique sound.
