AES/EBU
Audio Engineering Society/European Broadcasting Union — The AES/EBU standard defines the method of transfer for professional digital audio. It came about as a result of collaboration between the AES and the EBU and was later adopted by ANSI (American National Standards Institute). Several sampling rate standards are defined, including the 48kHz audio track used in digital video, the 44.1kHz audio used in audio CDs, and so on. The default AES/EBU sampling rate is 48kHz. A single 110 shielded twisted-pair cable is used to transfer two channels of audio and synchronization data. XLR connectors are used, allowing for long cable lengths.
