BUENA PARK, Calif. Today, at Winter NAMM 2007, Yamaha Corporation of America, Piano Division, introduced the Disklavier 2.0 software upgrade for its Mark IV series of performance reproducing pianos. The upgrade offers current and new customers of the world's most advanced pianos a host of innovative technological and entertainment enhancements, including
Disklavier Music Store and
Disklavier Radio.
The Yamaha Disklavier Mark IV performance reproducing piano |
The Yamaha Disklavier Mark IV builds upon the sophistication of previous generations of the award-winning line of Yamaha reproducing pianos by adding a variety of new features. Yamaha's continual innovation of this product has led to an industry first: the Disklavier has been honored for the sixth consecutive year with
Musical Merchandise Review Magazine's "Dealer's Choice Award" as "Product of the Year."
The free update will be available to Disklavier owners directly through a Yamaha CD, sent via US mail, on a dedicated FTP site, and through its authorized dealer network. This upgrade marks the final time a floppy disk/CD set will be required for a product update. Moving forward, users will simply connect to the Internet to receive free product upgrades directly from Yamaha. The update takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Disklavier 2.0 software introduces
Disklavier Music Store. Like the Clavinova's Internet Direct Connection feature, this capability enables users to access the Internet directly from the Disklavier Mark IV's pocket or tablet remote controller screens without the use of a computer. As with the Clavinova, an Internet connection can be made wirelessly or through a cable. Users simply establish an account over the secure server, and then may immediately download the songs directly to their instrument. Users may even listen to a song preview before purchase. An appropriate high-speed Internet connection is required to use this feature.
Equally exciting is the new
Disklavier Radio which offers a range of streaming MIDI music stations for Disklavier owners to choose from, including pop, jazz and classical formats. This subscription service will stream PianoMusicSoft™ selections to Internet-connected Disklavier Mark IVs worldwide, to play 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"The Disklavier's innovative software-based operating system enables us to continually improve our customer's experience via simple, downloaded product upgrades," states Jim Presley, Disklavier Marketing Manager. "Disklavier 2.0 represents our most sophisticated innovations yet, enabling us to quickly deliver what our customers seek, now and in the future."
Disklavier 2.0 will be available in April 2007.
