Q. What are the advantages to you of using a Clavinova?
A. I find Clavinova digital pianos to be invaluable teaching tools for instructing piano classes at the university, as well as private teaching with my younger students. The ability to record and playback performances provides students almost instant feedback about their playing. This immediate feedback replaces many of my verbal instructions, thus saving important instructional time.
Q. What one feature of Clavinova is most valuable?
A. The ability to play the many excellent pre-recorded MIDI disks during class or during a lesson is so much fun for both instructor and students. Being able to alter the tempo of the recording is my favorite instructional feature.
Q. How do students respond to the Clavinova CVP models?
A. Students absolutely love the variety of instrument voices, rhythms and auto accompaniment features on the teacher keyboard. The variety of creative sounds under their fingertips is a source of pleasure for them. Our classes are fun!
Q. With all of its features, is the Clavinova difficult to use?
A. The Clavinova is user-friendly. Menus and buttons are intuitive for both students and instructors. Since I supervise many graduate teaching assistants, it is important that the technology be “transparent,” so that these novice teachers can concentrate on the important part: teaching music.
Q. Do you personally play a Clavinova?
A. Yes! For fun and practice.
