Scott Wright is a busy freelance trumpet player in the Los Angeles and Southern California area. Feeling equally comfortable in jazz, classical, or pop settings, he enjoys performing and teaching all over the country.
In his senior year of high school, Scott was one of two students from California to be in the McDonalds’ All-American Band where he sat principal trumpet that year. Scott has been on tour with groups such as The Monkees, The Lettermen, The Coasters, The Platters, The Drifters, and Bobby Freeman. He continues to freelance in a variety of shows, society events, and studio work for Bones, HBO, Family Guy, The Arsenio Hall Show, Clare Fischer, Shirley Jones, Regis Philbin, Enrique Iglesias, Al Jarreau, Sally Struthers, Frank Sinatra Jr., Patrick Cassidy, Tony Danza, Bob Newhart, Don Rickles, Jody Watley, Seth MacFarlane, Johnny Mathis, Bobby Vinton, and other artists. He has appeared on screen on such films as Hocus Pocus, The Last Samurai, Fantasy Island, and The Rosie O’Donnell Show. He has been on tour in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and the Philippines with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
In 2012, Scott was honored by having a solo trumpet piece commissioned for him written by the film composer J. Eric Schmidt and premiered the piece on May 24, 2012 with the Cathedral City High School band. Scott has a Bachelor of Arts in music from California State University, Northridge. In addition to a busy performance schedule, he manages to keep a teaching studio and clinic schedule as an artist and clinician for Yamaha Band and Orchestral division.
