Paul Stephens is teaching applied jazz lead trumpet as an adjunct instructor at the University of North Texas. He is the director and featured soloist for The Christian Jazz Orchestra. He also performs as a guest soloist and clinician.
During the past 30 years, Paul performed as the lead trumpet player with many artists and in many shows including Maynard Ferguson, Slide Hampton, Louie Bellson, Nicholas Payton, The Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, Christian McBride, Herbie Hancock, Barry Manilow, Maureen McGovern, John Pizzarelli, Marvin Hamlisch, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Eric Miyashiro Big Band, the rock band Chicago, The San Antonio Symphony, The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, The Boston Pops, The Milwaukee Symphony, The Long Beach Symphony, The Hoagy Carmichael Orchestra, West Side Story, Sophisticated Ladies, Annie with Sally Struthers, Victor Victoria with Toni Tenille, The Music Man with Larry Gatlin, Fiddler On The Roof, The United States Air Force Band of the West, and The United States Air Force Band of the Pacific-Asia in Tokyo, Japan.
In 2013, Paul retired after nine years of performing as the lead trumpet player for the United States Army's premier touring jazz ensemble, The Jazz Ambassadors. Paul served a total of 25 years in the United States military. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, as well as numerous commendation, achievement, and good conduct medals.
Paul has performed on three Grammy nominated albums and one Dove award-winning album. He can also be heard on more than 30 records. He has also recorded numerous television and radio jingles and movie soundtracks.
