NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 9, 2014 – Nathan East, whose self-titled debut solo album on Yamaha Entertainment Group debuted at No.1 and featured the No. 1 hit jazz single "Daft Funk," is in the midst of an international tour which features his first-ever shows as a solo artist.
East, a renowned bassist who has performed on more than 2,000 records for artists including Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, George Harrison, Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, Kenny Loggins and many others, will visit Korea, Japan, Russia, England, Denmark and Germany through September.
East played his debut shows as a solo artist in Seoul, Korea supported by his "Daft Funk" co-writer Michael Thompson, his brother James East, Jack Lee, Lewis Pragasam, Norihito Sumitomo and Philip Woo. In Japan last week, East met up with the other three members of Fourplay (Bob James, Chuck Loeb and Harvey Mason) to perform at the Sapporo City Jazz Festival, then for two nights of shows at the Blue Note in Nagoya. Next stop was the Osaka Jazz Festival on Sept. 3. The group completed their tour of Japan with four nights (Sept. 5–8) at the legendary Tokyo Blue Note.
In Russia, East will perform and lead master clinics for the bass and music community there.
"I’m blessed to have this opportunity to meet some of my fellow bassists from around the world and share some of what I’ve learned over the years and also learn about them," East said. "It’s always a pleasure to witness the international language of music bringing us all closer together."
East will lead bass guitar master class sessions Sept. 13 and 14 during the (National Association of Music Merchants) NAMM Musikmesse in Moscow at the Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Center. East will also perform in an all-star band featuring Yamaha Russia musicians.
While in England, East will participate in photo shoots and interviews with Bass Guitar and Guitar & Bass magazines. In England, Denmark and Germany, East will perform and participate in Q&As and bass guitar clinics at music stores, in association with TC Electronic and Yamaha. East will discuss and demonstrate the TC Electronic bass amps, loopers and fx pedals he uses with his Signature Series Yamaha BBNE-2 5-string bass and Yamaha TRB 6-string bass and SLB-200 silent bass guitars. East has been a Yamaha musician for nearly his entire career and will talk about the bass guitars he uses and has helped create throughout the last three decades. Each free show begins locally at 7 p.m. (19:00) with limited space so musicians are asked to please book their attendance directly with each dealer below.
In addition to the four workshops listed above, East will also perform at Thomann’s Bass Day.
