Hollywood, Calif. (May 29, 2009) — Yamaha drummer
Carter Beauford has been busy in the studio working with his bandmates to release their first album since 2005 titled
Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Fans can get a sneak preview of the album, available June 2, on the Dave Matthews Band's website.
In an online video, Carter, who plays
Yamaha Recording Custom Drums, says this album is a return to the basics for the band, with everyone creating the music together in a studio in Los Angeles.
Big Whiskey is a tribute to LeRoi Moore, DMB's longtime saxophonist who passed away last August of complications from an off-road-vehicle accident. Yamaha artist
Jeff Coffin was honored to step in as the band's new saxophonist.
