Return to Basics for Yamaha Drummer Carter Beauford

Hollywood, Calif. (May 29, 2009) — Yamaha drummer Carter Beauford has been busy in the studio working with his bandmates to release their first album since 2005 titled Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Fans can get a sneak preview of the album, available June 2, on the Dave Matthews Band's website.

In an online video, Carter, who plays Yamaha Recording Custom Drums, says this album is a return to the basics for the band, with everyone creating the music together in a studio in Los Angeles. Big Whiskey is a tribute to LeRoi Moore, DMB's longtime saxophonist who passed away last August of complications from an off-road-vehicle accident. Yamaha artist Jeff Coffin was honored to step in as the band's new saxophonist.

Also, on June 1, just one day before you can purchase the long-awaited seventh studio album by DMB, the group is offering a free live performance! Dave Matthews Band joined forces with Hulu and Fuse for these exclusive deals. Along with the concert live from Beacon Theatre in NYC, the footage will include a documentary detailing the making of the band's latest studio album.
