Nashville, TN (May 4, 2009) — Yamaha artists
Dave Brogan and
Zach Gill are currently recording tracks for ALO's third album for Brushfire/Universal records. The band, which started tracking at label mate Jack Johnson's Mango Tree studios in early April, is taking a more live approach to the recording process, tracking songs with all of the band members in one room.

"In the past we tended to build songs from the drums up, one or two instruments at a time," Brogan said. "Doing it this way, there's a little more pressure to really lock in, concentrate, and be at the top of your game. But the end result is fresher, more real sounding tracks."
"Almost all of the drums on the album are Yamaha. I'm using the
Maple Custom shells from Jack Johnson's studio with Anton Fig, JR Robinson and David Garibaldi snare drums, and I'm loving the way they sound."
Zach, who plays keys, accordion, ukulele and vocals, played his Yamaha
U1 upright piano on almost every track. "We were all in the same room together with very little isolation between instruments, so you can hear a lot of the other instruments in the piano mics. I love this recording process so far – there is a spontaneity and naturalness to this album that is really beautiful to experience."
The album is expected to be finished this summer. ALO will also be making a handful of appearances at music festivals this spring and summer:
