NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 8, 2008) YCAA is proud to announce Grammy award-winning R&B singer/songwriter/composer
Robin Thicke has joined the talented group of Yamaha artists. Best known for his role as an artist with his breakout single "Lost Without U," Robin is also a successful songwriter and composer, winning his first Grammy for his collaborations on Usher's 2004 release
Confessions. Robin is currently touring with Mary J. Blige in the United States and Canada before heading to Europe for a few solo dates, and he has chosen to play an
MPC3 grand piano provided by YCAA.
We're couldn't be happier to sign someone like Robin to our esteemed piano artist roster," comments Chris Gero, vice president of Yamaha Corporate Artist Affairs, Inc. "He is a truly talented musician with a long career ahead of him."
The platinum-selling artist will be making numerous television appearances over the next few months to support the release of his third solo album
Something Else, a joyful and modern tribute to the '70s soul and pop records that have inspired his extraordinary career. YCAA will be helping with piano placements for his promotional tour, and his keyboardist Larry Cox, a Yamaha artist as well, will be playing the Motif XS series.
Robin found mainstream success in 2006 with the second single released off his second solo album,
The Evolution of Robin Thicke. Now on the way to double platinum status,
Evolution's mega hit "Lost Without U" became the #1 most played song in Urban Adult Contemporary BDS and topped four Billboard charts simultaneously: No. 1 R&B/Hip Hop album, No. 1 Hot R&B/Hip Hop song, No. 1 Hot R&B Hip Hop Airplay, and No. 1 Hot Adult R&B Airplay.
In 2007, Robin received the VH1 Soul/Vibe Award for the "Best Breakthrough Artist" and nominations from BET, Soul Train, MTV VMA, the American Music Awards, and ASCAP.
