HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (July 21, 2008) — Sponsored by Yamaha Guitars, Muriel Anderson staged an extraordinary presentation of All Star Guitar Night on June 21 during the summer session of NAMM in Nashville, Tenn. The show was held in the historic Ryman Auditorium and starred an amazing lineup of acoustic and electric guitar players.
Muriel Anderson, Victor Wooten, James Burton, Thom Bresh, Don Alder, Will Ray, Rick Vito, Ladd Smith, Nashville's Three Ring Circle, Davide Facchini and Anita Camarella Duo, Richard Gilewitz, special guest Larry Carlton and other top performers from Nashville and across the globe were a part of this year"s event, a 16 year tradition.
"We were more than thrilled to be a part of this unique, guitar-centric event that brings together talented musicians from all genres and all parts of the world," comments Mike Tempesta, artist relations manager for Yamaha Guitars. "On top of celebrating all things guitars, the evening is also an amazing way to raise funds for a very important cause – music education for children. It was an honor to be a part of it."
The ever-popular silent auction was back again, featuring some amazing gear. All proceeds were auctioned to benefit the Music for Life Alliance, a charity established by Anderson to help raise money to provide children with instruments and music education. Anderson's All Star Guitar Night originated in 1993 as an informal get-together after the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Convention and NAMM show, two simultaneous events that brought together some of the finest guitarists in the world. In an informal atmosphere, sitting around the pool playing music for each other and with each other, inevitably the best music happened. All Star Guitar Night has enjoyed resounding success in bringing that same magic to light in front of an audience.
Anderson is the first and only woman to win the National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship. With a style that ranges from folk, classical, jazz, bluegrass, and international music, she has been composing since the age of 6 and has published works for guitar and orchestra, voice and solo guitar.
