HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (July 17, 2008) The 2008 summer
American Idols Live tour has begun and Yamaha guitars are along for the ride. For the third year in a row, Yamaha artist
Tim Stewart is touring with the
Idol band, playing a Yamaha
APX900 acoustic guitar and
SA2200 electric guitar. And Idol bassist Derrik Ray will be playing a
BBNE2 on the tour, a signature bass designed with the help of Yamaha artist Nathan East.
"The
American Idol platform is an amazing way to expose our instruments to thousands of fans. We are honored that Tim and Derrik choose to play our guitars and basses, and we are thrilled to be on the road supporting them," comments Mike Tempesta, artist relations manager for Yamaha Guitars.
Spanning more than 40 cities from coast to coast over a course of three months,
Idol's seventh season finalists David Cook, David Archuleta, Brooke White, Syesha Mercado, Carly Smithson, Chikezie, Jason Castro, Kristy Lee Cook, Michael Johns and Remiele Malubay have all embarked on the summer tour that has become an annual right-of-passage for the finalists who are able to earn the fan's votes into the Top 10.
Also seen performing with an American Idol this year was Yamaha guitarist Mike "Fish" Herring. Herring joined with seventh season winner David Cook to perform the Foo Fighters' single "My Hero" as well as Cook's first single "Time of My Life" on the
Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Herring played his Yamaha
SBG1000 electric guitar and
CPX900 acoustic guitar.
