Billy Cobham CD Cover / Fruit From the Loom |
Hollywood, Calif. (May 30, 2008) Yamaha artist and legendary drummer Billy Cobham is proud to announce he is releasing the first of four volumes of music under the heading Fruit From The Loom. This Panamanian American jazz drummer, composer and bandleader is often referred to as fusion's greatest drummer, and his new release lends further credit to his definitive fusion sounds.
"In each CD there will be compositions reflecting my past, the present and music that ventures into musical environments that I have chosen to explore for the first time or have rarely made a foray so, my future, where I choose to explore," says Cobham.
On this first recording there are collaborations with musicians who are quite prominent in the world of percussion and music in general (Dave Samuels, Rabiu Ayandokun, Ernie Watts, Dean Brown, Brian Auger, Victor Bailey, Guy Barker, Jean Marie Ecay, Christophe Cravero, Marco Lobo and Junior Gill).
"This idea of collaborations with friends and colleagues will continue to enhance two of the three projects in development," says Cobham. "The fourth will be a surprise."
Cobham has worked with trumpeter Miles Davis and the Mahavishnu Orchestra before he became an accomplished bandleader in his own right.
