NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 30, 2007) Yamaha Corporate Artist Affairs, Inc. is proud to announce Christian artist Chris Tomlin has joined its artist roster. Tomlin and his band are currently on the How Great is Our God tour, with upcoming stops in San Diego, CA, Salt Lake City, UT and Charlotte, NC, among other cities.
"We are proud to welcome Chris Tomlin, one of the leading artists of the contemporary Christian music scene, into our family," says Chris Gero, vice president of Yamaha Corporate Artist Affairs, Inc. "Millions of people sing Chris' songs every week, and it will be an honor to be by his side as he continues to provide music for millions more."
According to the Christian Copyright Licensing International, Tomlin is the most sung Christian artist in the United States.
Hailing from Austin, Texas, Tomlin has been making gospel music since the age of 14. His first nationally released solo album, The Noise We Make, saw the emergence of songs "Forever," "Be Glorified" and "Kindness," all of which made the top 200 in the CCLI 2005 top 500 worship songs. Since then he has released 5 solo albums, which have spawned numerous number one hits and garnered him 12 Dove awards.
Tomlin's 2004 release Arriving gave him his first RIAA-certified gold record and made radio history by producing three No. 1 singles and three songs in the R&R Adult Contemporary Top 30 simultaneously (two of those in the Top 10).
In spring 2006, Tomlin led the GMA Music Award field of nominees with 10 nominations, capping off the Christian music industry's April ceremony with five statuettes, including standout awards for Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year. In 2007 he beat that record, bringing home six awards including Male Vocalist of the year once again.
His latest album See the Morning (2006) combines Tomlin's strong signature hooks with the production expertise of the award-winning Ed Cash, another new Yamaha artist. This is the third album Cash has produced for Tomlin.
