HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (Sept. 6, 2007) Newly welcomed Yamaha artists
Ed Roland and
Joel Kosche from the multi-platinum act Collective Soul are showcasing their recent Yamaha guitar selections on their current tour with The Black Crowes and Live. Yamaha Guitars is proud to announce Roland is playing a brand new limited release
SBG1000 and he and Kosche have both chosen
CPX900 acoustics for the tour and promotional use.
"Ed and Joel are such talented artists and we are thrilled to welcome them into our ever-growing roster of artists," comments Mike Tempesta, Artist Relations Manager for Yamaha Guitars. "We are really pleased that we can support them on their current tour and that they have chosen Yamaha to create the guitar-oriented sound they are known for."
Blonde-haired front man and band founder Roland, whose roles include guitarist, keyboardist, producer and songwriter, used his SBG1000 electric guitar during an appearance on the
Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Aug. 31. The band performed the album's first single "Hollywood," which was released in May. The song is steadily rising on Billboard's Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks. This week it climbed another three spots to No. 27.
On Aug. 28 Collective Soul released their seventh studio album,
Afterwords, which is available at Target, the exclusive physical retailer. The album is also available in digital form on iTunes.
Afterwords was recorded at several different studios but mixing was mainly done at Roland's home studio in Atlanta. Besides Roland on vocals, guitars and keyboards, the album features a song written and performed by Kosche.
"I Don't Need Any More Friends" is the album's only non-love song, and Kosche says it was written "for anyone who doesn't do so well at parties."
Collective Soul exploded out of their hometown of Stockbridge, Georgia onto the national consciousness with 1994's double-platinum
Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid. The album, a collection of Roland's early demos, was highlighted by the No. 1 hit song "Shine," and sent the band out on tour with Aerosmith and onto the stage at Woodstock 1994.
