NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 9, 2007) Yamaha artist
John Legend is busier than ever these days. He is currently on a spring tour, writing songs for some of the biggest names in music, running his own record label, and starting a charitable organization.
Legend's spring tour is in full swing with support act Corinne Bailey Rae, the new UK singing sensation. He is touring with a Yamaha MPC6, a 6' 11" Grand MIDIPiano, on dates throughout the U.S. including stops at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Memphis' Beale Street Music Festival.
Recently, music mogul Clive Davis tapped Legend to write songs for
Dreamgirls Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson's debut album. He is also writing songs for the great Whitney Houston's comeback CD. Legend and music icon Aretha Franklin just recorded a song he wrote entitled "Turn It Up" for Franklin's forthcoming J Records album.
Not content to simply write songs, John has also started his own record label called Home School. He recently announced the signing of his first artist, female rapper Estelle.
If all these projects weren't enough, Legend launched the Show Me Campaign. Legend's "Show Me" single is a beautiful song that charts a conversation with God about the state of the world and the individual's place in it. These simple themes form the founding principles for the Show Me Campaign, which was launched as a platform to contribute to the betterment of the world.
During a recent visit to Africa, Legend was able to learn first hand about the poverty facing the continent. This became a life changing experience for him, and the village he visited in Ghana became the inspiration for launching the grassroots Show Me Campaign to help bring money and awareness to promote sustainable development on the continent.
