NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 8, 2007) Yamaha Corporate Artists Affairs proudly announced today that
Isaac Slade, lead singer of the hugely popular pop/rock band The Fray, has joined the
Yamaha artist roster. The pianist and vocalist wrote all of the songs on the band's double platinum Epic Records debut album
How To Save A Life.
"We are thrilled that Isaac has joined the Yamaha family of artists and entrusts our quality pianos to create The Fray's signature sound. With all of the band's recent accolades, they certainly deserve and are destined for even greater successes in the future," comments Chris Gero, corporate director of Yamaha Corporate Artist Affairs.
Slade's Yamaha instrument of choice is the
Clavinova CLP-175. Part of Yamaha's award-winning line of digital pianos, the CLP-175 offers a stunning polished ebony grand piano cabinet, PC interface and incredibly realistic sound, courtesy of its cutting-edge Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) tone generation. This top-of-the-line model additionally features Yamaha's iAFC (Instrumental Active Field Control) system, which enhances and enriches the piano sound according to the acoustics of the performance space in which it's played. Featuring a natural wood keyboard with real-wood white keys, the piano has recently been joined by an updated version, the
CLP-295GP.
The Fray is nominated for two GRAMMY® Awards in the upcoming ceremonies on Feb. 11 for Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocals for "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocals for the hit single "How To Save A Life."
How to Save A Life has now become the number one digital album not only of 2006, but of all time. It has officially eclipsed Coldplay's
X&Y to become the best-selling digital album since SoundScan began tracking digital albums.
How to Save A Life was also the biggest selling album of 2006 on the iTunes Store. The Fray's music is among the most licensed on television today, with their songs featured on shows such as
Scrubs,
Grey's Anatomy,
What About Brian,
NCIS,
One Tree Hill,
Bones, and HBO's summer promos.
The Denver-based quartet was formed in 2002 by Slade and Joe King. Dave Welsh and Yamaha drummer Ben Wysocki soon joined the band to complete the lineup.
