HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (Aug. 3, 2006) Yamaha guitarist George Pajon Jr. has been busy recording and touring with the platinum-selling, award-winning Black Eyed Peas. Pajon is the Peas' guitarist and regularly plays a number of Yamaha guitars, including the
AES920 and
AES620 electric guitars, the
PAC1511MS Mike Stern Signature Guitar, and the
LJX6C acoustic guitar.
Pajon is currently on tour with the Black Eyed Peas in Asia, but the band will return to the U.S. in mid-August for a fall tour through September. Especially noteworthy will be their performance on FASHION ROCKS, celebrating the relationship between fashion and music. The special concert and fashion show will take place at New York's famed Radio City Music Hall on Sept. 7, with a television special airing the following night, Sept. 8, on CBS at 9 pm ET/PT.
"We are really honored that George chooses to play Yamaha Guitars. The success and exposure he has gained writing, recording and touring with the Black Eyed Peas is very deserving," comments Mike Tempesta, artist relations manager for
Yamaha Guitars.
Pajon has co-written many hits for the Black Eyed Peas including "Let's Get It Started" and "Don't Phunk With My Heart," for which the group won back to back GRAMMYS in 2004 and 2005 respectively for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. Other Peas' songs Pajon has co-written include "Union," "Where Is The Love," "Hands Up," "Shut Up," "Smells Like Funk," and "Latin Girls."
Not only is Pajon playing on Black Eyed Peas records, but he also lent his guitar talents to the Peas' Fergie on her upcoming solo album,
The Duchess, due out on Sept. 19. Pajon's guitar can be heard on Fergie's first single, "London Bridge," which is currently climbing the charts.
As a guitar player, producer and songwriter, Pajon has in recent years been a big force in helping to shape the sound of hip-hop through his originality, creativity and vision. Pajon's years of experience in the studio and on the road have led him into a budding career as a writer and producer working with such artists as Terry Dexter, Esthero, Mos Def, Beth Hirsch and many others. He has recorded with producers such as Rhett Lawrence, Wade Robson and Ron Fair, and has had the opportunity to play, record and tour with the likes of Macy Gray, No Doubt, Blink 182, 311, The Roots, Wyclef Jean, Coldplay, Queens of the Stone Age and others.
