NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 19, 2006) Country music pianist
Phil Vassar, along with Yamaha pianos, recently helped wish Southwest Airlines a happy 35th anniversary. On Friday, June 16, Vassar toured four airports in four different cities, making stops in Nashville, Tenn. and Houston, Austin, and Dallas, Texas all in one day. At each location he performed at Southwest gates on Yamaha pianos including the
S6 and
C7 concert collection grand pianos and a
CLP175 clavinova grand style piano.
Vassar not only played piano at the airports, but he also met with Southwest employees and customers, greeted travelers at ticket counters, and assisted ramp agents. Additionally, at Southwest's corporate headquarters in Dallas, Vassar's trip culminated in a special concert for Southwest employees.
"Yamaha Corporate Artist Affairs is fortunate to have such an extensive network of Yamaha pianos throughout the world and be able to assist Phil with his ambitious four cities in one day concert tour. Congratulations to Phil and a very happy anniversary to Southwest Airlines," remarks Chris Gero, corporate director of Yamaha Corporate Artist Affairs.
At the Dallas celebration Yamaha artist Vassar also helped present a check to America's Second Harvest, which Southwest was working with for its "Spread The Luv" campaign. The goal of the month long initiative was to raise at least 35,000 jars of peanut butter and distribute them to America's Second Harvest network of food banks across the country.
Vassar's current single "Last Day of My Life" is the fastest rising single of his career reaching #2 on both Billboard's and R&R's airplay charts. His latest CD,
Greatest Hits Volume 1, is in stores now.
