Yamaha Artists and Instruments Kicked Off Super Bowl XL with Soul

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 6, 2006) — Yamaha artist Stevie Wonder kicked off Super Bowl XL pre-game at Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday with an energetic medley of Motown and his own hits. Wonder was joined by Yamaha artist and eight-time Grammy nominee John Legend along with Joss Stone and India.Arie.

As Wonder played a Yamaha Motif 8 and MPC2 throughout the pre-game, he opened with "Uptight (Everything's Alright)." Legend then took the stage with his velvety voice singing "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and later "My Cherie Amour."

The soulful Joss Stone belted out "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" with Wonder, while India.Aire accompanied him on "Dancin' in the Street." All the artists joined in on the closing numbers, including "Superstitious" and "A Time to Love" from Wonder's latest CD of the same title.

Following the pre-game festivities, "The Star-Spangled Banner" showcased New Orleans' Dr. John on a Yamaha DC6A grand piano with fellow Crescent City native Aaron Neville and Detroit's own "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin providing the mesmerizing vocals. Yamaha artist and Super Bowl XL Music Director Steve Jordan also accompanied the national anthem with his Steve Jordan Signature Cocktail Kit.
