Crow, Usher, Keys Win People's Choice Awards

BUENA PARK, CA (January 10, 2005) — Sheryl Crow, Usher and Alicia Keys each won statues at the People's Choice Awards, held last night in Pasadena, Calif. Crow won for Favorite Remake with her hit "The First Cut is the Deepest" a Cat Stevens original.

Usher won two awards, taking home the Favorite Male Singer award as well as the Best Combined Forces award for his work with Ludacris and Lil' Jon on the huge hit "Yeah!".

Alicia Keys was also a winner, earning the Favorite Female Singer award. Keys was one of five Yamaha artists nominated in the category, making up the entire pool. Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Avril Lavigne and Sarah McLachlan were also nominated in the Favorite Female Singer category. Yamaha artist Josh Groban was also a nominee, earning recognition in the Favorite Male Singer category, which Usher won.

U2, a band founded in Ireland by Yamaha drummer Larry Mullen, Jr. Mullen and his band mates were recognized as the Favorite Musical Group.

The People's Choice awards have been presented for the past 31 years, however in 2005 the awards were voted on completely via the Internet, a first. More than 21 million logged on to vote for their favorite in film, television and music.
