BUENA PARK, CA (November 15, 2004) Several Yamaha artists walked away winners, while several more performed at the 2004 American Music Awards on Sunday, November 14 in Los Angeles. Usher was the night's big winner, earning Favorite Male Artist in the Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B categories and Favorite Album in the Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B categories. The Yamaha artist won for his album
Confessions with his #1 hit "Yeah!".
Other Yamaha artists taking home trophies included Sheryl Crow (Favorite Female Artist, Pop/Rock and Favorite Artist, Adult Contemporary), Alicia Keys (Favorite Female Artist, Soul/R&B) and Linkin Park (Favorite Artist Alternative for the second year in a row). Yamaha products were featured throughout the telecast, which lasted three hours and was shown nationwide on ABC network.
Yamaha artists performing included: Alicia Keys performed twice, using an
MPC2 and an MP300; Usher;
Josh Groban (playing a
C7), along with drummer
Craig Macintyre; Wyatt Beard played a Motif and Sean Paddock appeared on drums with Kenny Chesney; Rex Mauney and Mica Roberts on played keyboards, with
Dave McAfee on drums for Toby Keith; Herman Jackson appeared on a Motif for Jessica Simpson; pianist Henry Hey and saxophone player
Dave Koz played with Rod Stewart;
Matt Flynn played drums for Maroon 5; and Howard Laravea played a Motif for Gretchen Wilson.
Jamie Foxx also gave a surprise performance, playing an MPC2.
Live sound was also provided by ATK Audiotek (Yamaha Commercial Audio Dealer). They used two
PM1D's and two
PM5D's for mixing both FOH and Monitors.
