BUENA PARK, CA (December 6, 2004) After working with such pop icons as
Elton John, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac and Rod Stewart, Yamaha artist
Patrick Leonard has moved on to working with movie stars.
Leonard created the musical soundtrack to the story of Moses, as Val Kilmer portrays the biblical hero in the new LA-based musical
The Ten Commandments. With a mission to bring the story of Moses to life much like rock-operas
Jesus Christ: Superstar and
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Ten Commandments American stage version began with the original French stage musical,
Les Dix Commandments.
For
The Ten Commandments, Yamaha provided Leonard and his crew six
Motif keyboards along with supporting racks,
PLG cards, foot controllers and
instructional DVDs. Two
DTXtreme drum kits, Yamaha’s latest innovation in drumming, were provided as well as three drum thrones.
Leonard’s past collaborations include works with Elton John, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, Roger Waters, Jeff Beck, and Bryan Ferry, to name a few. As a performer, Leonard was a founding member of and the principal songwriter for early 90s progressive-pop studio band, Toy Matinee.
This isn’t Leonard’s first foray into producing musical scores. His soundtrack production credits include blockbusters such as
Moulin Rouge, Shrek, Legally Blonde, and
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
