BUENA PARK, CA (October 14, 2004) With two Yamaha Pianos, including a
Grand Piano to take center stage, Yamaha Corporation of America will be supporting the fourth annual "Great Night in Harlem", celebrating jazz music and raising funds for the Jazz Musicians' Emergency Fund. A tribute to Yamaha artist Ray Charles and jazz legend Elvin Jones will be part of the evening's events.
Yamaha is sponsoring the event for the fourth-straight year by providing pianos for the artists to play. In addition to a
CFIIIS nine-foot concert grand, Yamaha is also providing a
C3 for the benefit.
Held in the Apollo Theater on October 28, more than 50 performers will play in an effort to raise funds to support the Jazz Musicians' Emergency Fund, providing medical assistance to elderly jazz musicians living without the support of family or health insurance. The Jazz Foundation of America plans and puts on the annual event, this year hosted by Bill Cosby, Quincy Jones, Gil Noble and Chevy Chase.
Along with the Ray Charles tribute, Elvin Jones will also be remembered. The event begins at 8 p.m., with tickets already available through the Jazz Foundation and TicketMaster.
