Nashville, Tenn. (December 01, 2015) – Yamaha Entertainment Group of America is incredibly proud to announce founder and vice president Chris Gero received a Midsouth Regional Emmy® Award Nomination for "The Gift" under the Music Composer/ Arranger category.
The Nashville/Midsouth Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced the 30th Annual Midsouth Regional Emmy® Award nominations at a Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) party on the ever so legendary Music Row. The Nashville chapter serves the regions of North Carolina, Tennessee and northern Alabama. Midsouth Regional Emmy® winners will be announced at a gala event and live telecast from the iconic Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum on February 27 in Nashville, Tennessee.
"The Gift" is a nearly six minute long film that follows the journey of a single guitar over the course of four decades and three familial generations. Complemented by a specially commissioned symphonic piece of music by the Nashville Recording Orchestra, the film connects Yamaha instruments with music lovers from around the world. Gero wrote, scored, produced and directed the short film, which debuted on Yamaha Corporation of America’s Facebook page. The underlying nostalgic tones of the video encourage giving the gift of music. The piece was filmed locally across Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee over the course of seven days in January 2015.
Gero took to the legacy of music for inspiration on the first ever feature film commissioned by Yamaha Corporation of America. In addition to the Midsouth Regional Emmy® Nomination, "The Gift" has received an astounding 35 awards since its release.
"The Gift" is a project I am personally very proud of," said Gero. "I am so honored the members of the Nashville chapter of NATAS recognized the beauty and importance of this nostalgic short film. I look forward to sharing the gift of music through Yamaha’s eyes with each and every individual that views the film."
