Since 2006, Mike Vanderhule has been touring the world as a member of the classic/hard-rock band Y&T playing major international festivals, concert halls and clubs. Since his joining, Mike has recorded their DVD "One Hot Night" and two CDs, "Facemelter" and "Live at the Mystic."
As a side man, Mike has performed and/or recorded with Montrose, Vince Neil (Motley Crue), John Denver, Neal Schon (Journey), Greg Kihn, Steve Lukather (Toto), Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Mickey Thomas (Starship), Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche), Fee Waybill (The Tubes), Jesse Colin Young (Youngbloods), Bobby Kimball (Toto), Alcatrazz (feat. Graham Bonnet), Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson), Jeff Scott Soto (Soul SirkUS, Talisman, TSO), Ron Keel (Keel), Jeff Watson (Night Ranger), Tiran Porter (Doobie Bros.), Stu Hamm (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai), Frank Hannon (Tesla), b (world acclaimed jazz guitarist), Larry Mitchell (Tracy Chapman, Billy Squire, Ric Ocasek), blues/rock artist Jackie Greene and country artist Shelly Streeter.
Prior to Y&T, he recorded and toured with SoulMotor, featuring Brian Wheat (Tesla) and Tommy Mcclendon (UFO). He has also recorded three albums and toured internationally with guitar virtuoso Michael Lee Firkins.
Mike is a member of Seven Reasons, who has performed with Bon Jovi, Vince Neil, Winger and Montrose, and on the KLOS Los Angeles Mark & Brian Radio Show in support of their self-titled CD which Mike produced. Mike has been producing and mixing projects for artists, bands and songwriters since 1995. Due to the demand from his travels, Mike has also beenrecording drums online for artists from his own studio via the internet as well as in person.
For over twenty-five years, Mike has been teaching all styles of drumming to students of all ages. He teaches in his home town of San Jose, CA and also online via Skype.
Mike’s own education includes studying extensively though the 90’s with drumming great Steve Smith (Journey, Vital Information), and lessons with Alex Acuna, Carl Allen and other local drummers. He won awards playing in his High School’s bands and as a member of the De Anza College Jazz Band.
