Micah Brusse is a percussion instructor from Oregon who works primarily throughout the Northwest. Having studied orchestral and rudimental percussion both privately and at the University of Oregon, Micah performed with the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps in 1995 and 1997. In his second year, he helped propel the corps to its ninth national championship and a drum title, in addition to taking third place in the solo competition on snare drum.
In the fall of 1998, Micah began teaching the University of Oregon Marching Band as the Percussion Director and Arranger. From 1999 through 2001, he served as the Snare Technician for the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, and worked with the Blue Devils in the same capacity from 2002 through 2005. In 2006, he became the Percussion Caption Head for Evergreen High School in Vancouver, Washington, and, from 2007 through 2014, Micah was a part of the instructional staff for the Oregon Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps. In 2009, he began working with the independent winter percussion ensemble OC Indoor, becoming the Battery Music Arranger in 2014.
Micah has toured the United States and traveled to Europe as a marching percussion instructor, and continues to be active in the Northwest. During his years as a rudimental percussionist, Micah has been honored to work with instructors such as James Campbell, Ralph Hardimon, Scott Johnson, Mike Stevens, and Alan Keown. He teaches privately on a regular basis in addition to writing and arranging for several schools throughout the country.
