Meghan Merciers is Department Chair and Associate Professor of Music at the University of North Alabama. She is an active soloist and collaborative musician, performing new chamber and multimedia works for clarinet and has played throughout the United States, Europe, Canada and Mexico. Some of Meghan's projects include performing and lecturing with her clarinet quartet, Devil Sticks; with her UNA ensemble-in-residence, Trio Leo; and with the Riverbank Saxophone Quartet. Meghan is Principal Clarinet of the Shoals Symphony Orchestra and regularly performs in the Tuscaloosa, Huntsville and North Mississippi Symphony Orchestras.
Previously, Meghan taught at Albion College and the Flint Institute of Music and played in several mid-Michigan symphonies. She earned her doctorate in clarinet performance from Michigan State University as well as degrees from the University of New Mexico and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She studied with Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr, Keith Lemmons, Nikolasa Tejero and Peter Temko. Meghan is a Silverstein PRO Team Artist and Yamaha Performing Artist.
