Dr. Matt Stratton is Professor of Music at Olivet Nazarene University (ONU), where he serves as the Director of Bands and Charlene Hawkins Chair of Instrumental Music. Dr. Stratton directs the ONU Wind Ensemble and teaches courses in music education, music theory, and gives leadership to the tuba and euphonium studio. Under his direction, the Tiger Marching Band has performed as the lead band in the London New Year's Day Parade, marched in the United States' Presidential Inaugural Parade, and performed internationally in Rome, Italy.
Outside of ONU, Dr. Stratton maintains an active role in the marching arts. He has taught with the Patriots, Magic, Blue Stars, Bluecoats, and is currently the Brass Caption Manager for Cadets. He has been nominated for the Who's Who Among America's Teachers at both the high school and collegiate levels. Dr. Stratton is a founding member of the Ultimate Drill Book Educational Team and is a Yamaha Performing Artist and Clinician. He maintains an active schedule as consultant, clinician, guest conductor, and adjudicator.
Dr. Stratton holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with a performer's certificate from State University of New York College at Fredonia, as well as a Master's of Music in Tuba Performance and Doctorate of Music in Brass Pedagogy from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. He and his wife April reside in Bourbonnais, IL with their five children and puppy Miles.
