Matthew Cremisio received his Bachelors of Music in Education from The Crane School of Music, at SUNY Potsdam, a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies from The College of Saint Rose, and a second Masters in Educational Administration from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. While completing his Masters, he received additional drumset instruction and musical studies from The Eastman School of Music. His teachers have included, Jim Petercsak, Gary France, Frank Gibson, Jr., and Rich Thompson. Mr. Cremisio has toured internationally including Australia, Germany, and Switzerland as a percussionist and educator, and has performed for Dolphin Cruise Lines in Miami, Florida. He has also entertained and shared the stage with numerous performers including Connie Francis, the Lawrence Welk Show, Jeff Jarvis, Donna Cherry (Barry Manilow), Kim Nazarian (New York Voices), Jay Ashby, Englebert Humperdink, Dale Barlow, Mel Martin, John Fedchock, Jim Snidero, Helen Matthews, James Morrison, Wynton Marsalis, Denis DiBlasio, Michael Davis, Christian Howes, and the National Broadway Tour Productions of "Grease" and "Carousel".
Matthew is currently the Director of Music for Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in the Orlando Diocese, where he leads the Music Ministry.
Prior to moving to Florida Mr. Cremisio served as the Director of Music Education at the Niskayuna Central School District, and Shenendehowa Central Schools. Matthew was as an adjunct music faculty member at The College of Saint Rose for 13 years, and was the conductor and founder of the Empire State Youth Repertory Jazz Ensemble. He has conducted and adjudicated at local and regional music festivals, as well as presented numerous drumset clinics and rhythm section workshops on behalf of CASDA, NYSSMA, PAS and IAJE. In addition, Matthew has written numerous reviews of various performances and educational literature while serving as a staff writer for Jazz Player magazine, Activate magazine, and Warner Bros. publications. In 1999, Mr. Cremisio presented a series of rhythm section workshops and guest artist performances throughout Switzerland as part of a tour with the Empire State Youth Jazz Ensemble.
Matthew served on the Educational Advisory Board with the Pro-Mark Corporation, and invited to join the Percussive Arts Society National Drumset Education Committee. He is the former Vice President of the International Association of Jazz Educators New York State Chapter, a former NYSSMA Instrumental Jazz New York State Chairperson, and Past President of the Suburban Scholastic Council of Music Directors.
