Trumpeter Krystal Johnson was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She began playing the trumpet at the early age of 10. She graduated high school from the Cleveland School of the Arts and went on to receive her associate's degree in jazz studies from the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) where she studied jazz vocals and trumpet. She was afforded the opportunity to perform with jazz greats such as Wynton Marsalis, The New York Voices, and Jimmy Cobb, among many others. After graduating from Tri-C, Krystal transferred to Berklee College of Music in Boston where she earned her bachelor's degree in jazz composition. She then took a leap of faith and relocated to Los Angeles, California. Krystal has since performed with Beyonce, Solange Knowles, Janelle Monae, Victoria Monet, Coldplay, HER, and Cynthia Erivo, to name a few, and can be seen performing on the Grammys, the Oscars, Coachella, and many other nighttime television shows and festivals.
Krystal is now an award-winning musician, music producer, and music editor for tv/film. Her work as a producer, songwriter, and music editor can be heard on television and films today. Her work on television has been nominated for an MPSE Golden Reel award and won an Emmy award in 2022.
Krystal can be seen and heard performing with some of the most iconic artists in the music industry today, as well as editing music for popular television shows and feature films.
