John Pollard graduated from Washington State University in 1988 with degrees in music education and music performance. For over a decade, he was the Music Coordinator for the Yamaha Corporation of America Sounds of Summer Percussion Camps and served as an instructor at Music for All's Summer Symposium and National Festival. He composed and instructed for the inaugural Bands of America "Tournament Of Roses" Band and was a Yamaha Marching Percussion Coordinator for MTV's Super Bowl XXXVIII Halftime Show.
From 1997-2005, John was Associate Band Director and Percussion Coordinator at L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, TX. Groups he instructed were two-time Texas UIL State Marching Champions as well as PASIC National Drumline Champions. They also medaled over 25 times at BOA Regional, Super Regional and Grand National Championships and were Sudler Shield recipients. John's ensembles performed at PASIC, The Midwest Clinic, numerous TMEA and TBA Conventions and with TMEA Honor Bands. Individually, his students placed first in Texas All-State Bands and Orchestras as well as in Percussive Arts Society national competitions. John is a past Chairman of the UIL Percussion Music Committee, a TMEA All-State music selector and a member of the PASIC 2000 Planning Committee. He is published by Row-Loff Productions and has written for Percussive Notes, Drum Corps World and other corporate periodicals.
John is a member of the Music for All Board of Directors and coordinates Bands of America's Fall Championships' announce team. A repeat winner of the HEB Education Foundation's Excellence in Education Award, he remains a District Mentor for the L.D. Bell cluster of schools and is a continuing Yamaha educator with a focus on supporting music education, music in our schools and Music for All.
