Dr. Jennifer Fraley is Lecturer of Clarinet at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance from Florida State University, a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Her clarinet instructors include Jonathan Holden, Frank Kowalsky, Justin O'Dell, Richard Fletcher and Jennifer Gerth.
Dr. Fraley has taught at the collegiate level previously at Troy University and as a graduate assistant at Florida State University. She is frequently a faculty member with the Allegheny College Band Camp for Adult Musicians in the summer, where she teaches daily masterclasses and serves as the ensemble E-flat clarinetist. She has taught privately in Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida and Alabama as a clarinet/multiple woodwind instructor and has had numerous students place in all-state ensembles or collegiate music programs.
An active performer, Dr. Fraley performs frequently as a soloist and ensemble member in the United States. She is a founding member of Sources Duo with percussionist Benjamin Fraley, and she served as a section/auxiliary clarinetist with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra from 2014 to 2019. Some of her projects include commissions of solo and chamber music featuring the E-flat clarinet, as well as the online resource The E-flat Clarinet Project. Dr. Fraley has been a performer or presenter in the Florida State University New Music Ensemble series, International Clarinet Association ClarinetFests and Southeast Regional Conferences, Bang on a Can Summer Institute, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, Make Music Nashville, Make Music New York, National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors conferences and Alabama Music Educator Association conferences. She is a member of the International Clarinet Association (ICA) and has published articles in Ala Breve (Alabama Music Educators Association) as well as event reviews in the journal The Clarinet and the ICA online publications.
Dr. Fraley is a Yamaha Performing Artist and performs on Yamaha clarinets exclusively.
