Greg Vail has had the opportunity to work with some of the most prolific names in jazz, contemporary jazz, pop, and Christian music scenes over the last few decades. He has also recorded many solo instrumental albums, and has been a supporting musician on hundreds of albums in a number of different genres.
Most notably, Vail has recorded, performed, or toured with Rick Braun, Peter White, Greg Adams of Tower of Power, East Bay Soul, Kilauea, Josh Groban, Weezer, David Pack of Ambrosia, Petra, Amy Grant, Crystal Lewis, Jon Gibson, Darrell Mansfield, and Sweet Comfort, to name but a few. Vail has also made musical appearances on BET Jazz, History Channel, Fox News, TBN, local network news and cable shows, and the nationally aired commercials for Time Life Records, to promote the renowned Sax by Candlelight and Sax by Moonlight albums that sold in the millions worldwide.
Originally taught by his grandfather, Vale began playing the saxophone at 6 years old. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Long Beach State in 1984, he toured extensively with smooth jazz super-groups Kilauea, Peter White Band, and later the Rob Mullins Band.
Vail has been a Yamaha Performing artist since 1991, and endorses the Akai EWI and Audio Technica wireless systems.
