Dave Marvin has been involved with the marching percussion activity for more than 40 years. At age 11, he began marching, and he now teaches, writes, designs, presents clinics and judges for groups nationwide. His arrangements and design consulting sessions are highly sought-after in the percussion community. In 2008, Dave was inducted into the Hall of Fame for both WGI and the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association, and in 2018, he was inducted into the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps Hall of Fame in its inaugural year.
Dave is the Director and Arranger for the Denver Broncos Stampede, the first official drumline of the NFL. Since 2003, this outstanding group has performed at all Denver Broncos home games as well as at private and corporate functions. Dave spent 39 years as the Percussion Director at the internationally acclaimed Northglenn High School (Percussion Theatre). In that time, Northglenn earned 19 state titles; WGI Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals; and WGI Fans' Favorite awards in 2010 and 2015. He now directs the Longmont High School Winter Percussion Ensemble, which is a five-time WGI Finalist. Dave was also the mastermind behind the show concepts and visual coordination for the four-time WGI World Champion Blue Knights World Percussion Ensemble from 1999-2005. He is Percussion Caption Head at Lakewood High School and arranges for a variety of scholastic and independent ensembles.
Dave has written, arranged and taught for the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps, United States Air Force Drum & Bugle Corps and the University of Colorado Marching Band. In 2018, he joined the percussion/design team for Genesis Drum & Bugle Corps.
Dave served as President of the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association for over ten years and on the WGI Steering Committee for over fifteen years.
Along with his wife Kathy, Dave has produced a number of high profile percussion groups for their company, Party Crashers, LLC. The group Beauty and the Beats is America's first professional, all-female drumline. Joining Trash Talk and Grooved Pavement, the nonstop energy and unique instrumentation of these groups has quickly changed the entertainment landscape in Colorado and beyond.
Dave is a clinician/artist for Yamaha Musical Instruments, Zildjian Cymbals, Evans Drumheads and Malletech eMotion Sticks and Mallets.
