Dr. Christopher Vivio is the Assistant Professor of Low Brass at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. He has previously held teaching positions at Belmont University, Tennessee State University and Austin Peay State University. Dr. Vivio holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Illinois State University, a Master of Music in Tuba Performance from Penn State University and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Memphis. His teachers include Dave Zerkel, Jeff Graves, Sharon Huff, Michael Forbes, Velvet Brown, John Mueller and Charles Schulz.
Dr. Vivio performs solo recitals, presents lectures and judges competitions at numerous international and regional conferences, including the International Tuba and Euphonium Conferences; the Association of Spanish Tuba and Euphonium Conferences; and Northeast, Midwest, Southeast and Mid-South Tuba and Euphonium Regional Conferences. As an active freelance musician in the Nashville and Tennessee regions from 2006 to 2017, Dr. Vivio had the opportunity to perform with such groups as the Belmont Brass Quintet, Nashville Symphony Brass Quintet, Memphis Brass Quintet and the Memphis Symphony. In addition, he performs with the Wichita Falls Symphony, has performed with the Prague Symphony and was the principal tubist of the Altoona Symphony.
