Oboist Caitlin Kramer is a native of Southwest Michigan, having grown up in Kalamazoo. Caitlin is a proud graduate of DePauw University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Oboe Performance studying with Anna Mattix, then Principal of the Indianapolis Chamber Symphony and now Principal English horn with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Caitlin attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she earned a Master's Degree in Oboe Performance working under Pamela Smith, Second Oboist of the San Francisco Symphony.
While at SFCM Caitlin developed a passion for several special areas including Baroque music and teaching through the "Conservatory in the Schools" program. She moved to Las Vegas, NV in 2009 where, for over a decade, she was oboist to many orchestras backing stars on the Las Vegas Strip. Highlights include Andrea Bocelli, Amy Grant, Evanescence, Weird Al Yankovic, Hugh Jackman, Natalie Merchant, Johnny Mathis, Bernadette Peters, and MANY. Caitlin also spent much time in the pit of Ballet Nevada Orchestra, Opera Las Vegas, and Phantom the Las Vegas Spectacular.
Caitlin is a passionate oboe studio teacher specializing in college preparatory teaching and maintains a large studio of young oboists in Kalamazoo. In addition to this, she is also Professor of Oboe at Hope College in Holland, Michigan and teaches oboe at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
Caitlin can be heard with many area orchestras including Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Holland Symphony Orchestra, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, West Michigan Symphony Orchestra, and others in the "Michiana" region.
