A native of Sarajevo, pianist Dino Mulic is a Yamaha Artist with a fascinating history. Dino grew up in Bosnia-Herzegovina during the war of the 1990s. His passion for music survived the adversities of those years, instilling in him a strong work ethic and a keen sense of determination and persistence. Dino studied at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo and then at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he earned his doctoral degree in piano performance and pedagogy. His most influential teachers include pianists Christopher Taylor, Svetlana Chlaidze and Ruben Dalibaltayan, and cellists Parry Karp and Yevgeny Xaviereff.
Dino is an active recitalist, chamber musician, clinician, and adjudicator. He has performed in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, and throughout the United States. Dino is an advocate of new music, and his repertoire includes works by Balkan and American composers, some of whom have written duets for him and his wife, Sangmi Lim, who is also an accomplished pianist. Dino has given presentations at a number of national and state conferences including the Music Teachers National Association and the Texas Music Teachers Association Convention. Dino has presented on the importance of music education for all. In the spirit of community building, Dino is a proponent of bringing together university faculty, independent music teachers, and local and national music organizations to celebrate the artistry of piano performance.
Dino possesses remarkable organizational skills and is a reputable concert presenter, having founded the Sarajevo Chamber Music Festival in 2010. This festival features a week of concerts by world-renowned artists, as well as a ten-day educational program for young chamber musicians. Dino's proudest achievement is the creation of Piano Celebration Week, an annual piano festival at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi. This festival features internationally renowned pianists, and the best and brightest young musicians from throughout the Coastal Bend, Central, and South Texas regions. This festival has transformed the piano community of Corpus Christi and inspired hundreds of budding pianists.
Dino has held faculty positions at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and at the University of Sarajevo. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Music at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi. Dino also serves as a faculty member at the New England Music Camp in Sidney, Maine where he teaches applied piano and chamber music.
Dino lives in Corpus Christi, Texas with his wife, Sangmi, and two children, Luka and Ella.
