Anjan Shah is the owner of the business/marketing consulting firm Artsvue Marketing. He has worked with the State of Maryland's Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) as a contract Loaned Executive through their Executive Exchange Program. In this capacity, he has provided leadership, mentoring and networking opportunities to entrepreneurs of multiple companies within the TEDCO portfolio identified for accelerated success. He has led marketing and technology development projects for each of these companies, utilizing state allocated funds over $500K, which has successfully brought each of these projects to completion on-time and on budget.
Anjan's career began as a performing musician as he earned a bachelor's degree in applied saxophone from Michigan State University, a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from the University of Illinois and won a position with the US Army Field Band right out of school. While serving in the Army from 1990-1994, Anjan was the Tenor Saxophonist and a featured soloist with the band. During his tenure with the Field Band, he performed more than 670 concerts and conducted clinics and master classes throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
After leaving the Army, Anjan worked as a freelancer with such musical luminaries as Phil Woods, Johnny Mathis, Natalie Cole, Linda Ronstadt, Jeff Tyzik, Marvin Hamlisch, Maureen McGovern, Michael Feinstein, Wynonna Judd, Ann Hampton Callaway, Sandy Duncan, Peter Nero, Jack Jones and the Jimmy & Tommy Dorsey Orchestras. He also toured with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on a United States tour and with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra throughout Spain, Italy, Slovenia and Austria under the direction of Maestro Yuri Temirkanov.
In 1991, Anjan co-founded the Capitol Quartet. He and the members of this critically acclaimed saxophone quartet performed regularly with major orchestras throughout the United States, including the Cincinnati Pops, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Erie Philharmonic, Long Beach Symphony, Springfield Symphony Orchestra and Bay Atlantic Symphony, among others. The quartet's recordings American Sketches, Anything Goes and DIG earned high critical praise, leading American Record Guide to characterize Capitol Quartet as "...an ensemble that plays with luscious color and uninhibited verve."
After settling down with a family, Anjan pivoted from music and focused on stability by earning an MBA from Loyola University Maryland, which helped his transition into the world of corporate marketing. For the more than 20 years, he has led marketing teams in multi-million dollar organizations, directing large and small teams to optimal performance and exceptional corporate profits.
During these years, Anjan has developed an extensive background in the non-musical side of the music industry, specializing in entertainment marketing. He has worked in the marketing departments of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Borders Books and Music, and he has led marketing teams for IKEA of North America and Music & Arts, a division of Guitar Center. He has been a marketing consultant for the Yamaha Corporation of America, Baltimore Choral Arts Society, North American Saxophone Alliance, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Maryland Music Educators Association, Artra Artists, Summit Records and Arizona University Recordings. His marketing agency, Artsvue Marketing, focuses on offering clients cost-effective solutions for their online marketing and communication needs.
