Born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, Adolfo Acosta began playing the cornet in the fourth grade in his school band and orchestra program. He switched to the trumpet shortly after. He fell in love with the sound and feeling of playing in the school jazz ensemble. After high school and playing different types of music around town, Adolfo made a move to the University of North Texas to sharpen his skills. There he had the fortune of playing with the One O'Clock Lab, Two O'Clock Lab Band, and many other ensembles performing music of different genres. A spot in Maynard Ferguson's band opened up in the Late Summer of 1998 and Adolfo was soon on board to begin a two year run with the jazz trumpet legend. From there he had the opportunity to tour with the world-renowned band Tower Of Power in the Summer of 2000. Adolfo has been a member of Tower Of Power for eleven years now and keeps a busy schedule touring about 200 days out of the year.
