MIDI bulk dump
Most commonly referred to as bulk dump. A function used to transfer data from an entire section of one MIDI device to another, for archiving, transfer, or saving/loading. The data is transmitted as MIDI System Exclusive messages. Real-time performance data (such as note information and controller messages) in a MIDI bulk dump is not sent in sequential order, like MIDI data sent in real time is. For a synthesizer, bulk data can include all the settings of all the parameters that make up a sound, a bank of sounds or setups, a bank of songs, etc. With an effects processor or mixer, bulk data can include EQ settings, effects/program settings, mixer settings, etc.
